Horizon Eye Care now has new Visual Field

Machines.

What does this mean for you?

It means that you will have the latest technology used in diagnosis of glaucoma. This also means that the testing process is much faster.

Horizon Eye Care also screens possible glaucoma patients through Nerve Fiber Analysis. Glaucoma is a loss of nerve fibers and a subsequent loss of vision. Advanced technology allows us to take a 3-dimensional topography of the optic nerve. This is not only useful in diagnosis, but also allows better tracking of the progression of the glaucomatous eye.

NEW TREATMENT FOR GLAUCOMA

SLT

(Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty),

a progressive new treatment in the fight to stop the progression of glaucoma

This laser treatment is a safe, painless office procedure that may allow many of our glaucoma patients to eliminate or reduce the need for eye drops. The procedure, which is covered by most insurance plans, takes just few minutes, and does not require any recovery time—you may drive yourself to and from the procedure, and resume all your normal activities immediately.

The treatment delays progression of the disease and reduce subsequent vision loss. Screening and early intervention is critical to detecting and stopping the relentless progression of glaucoma. SLT does not rely on medicines, instead, uses an advanced laser system to target only specific cells of the eye - those containing melanin, a natural pigment. This allows for only these cells to be affected, leaving surrounding tissue intact. As a result, your body's own healing response helps lower the pressure in your eye
