Post Op Instructions

Keep your eyes closed 4-6 hours after your Horizon LASIK procedure. The best things to do are go home and go to sleep. Otherwise, your eyes may feel uncomfortable. It is not abnormal to have some tearing and on the rare occasion a burning sensation.
Take anti-inflammatory (Pred Forte) every two hours, WHILE YOU ARE AWAKE for the first two days (Wed/Thur) and four times a day for next two days (Fri/Sat) and antibiotic (Zymar) drops four times per day for ALL 4 days. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Bedtime. ALWAYS USE DROPS FIVE MINUTES APART
Use non-preservative lubricating drops as needed (the more the better); every few hours use a few drops. This helps with the healing process and feels good to the eye.
You should be using Restasis twice a day for a month following your procedure
Use clear shields on your eyes at night when you go to sleep for 4 nights
Some patients are light sensitive and need darker sunglasses. These are included in your post op packet.
Be careful around your eyes for the next week. Take extra care in the shower and no swimming for one week
Some patients have trouble sleeping early in the evening. It is a good idea to have Tylenol or another PM medicine on standby.
It is normal to have some fluctuations in your vision for a while after surgery. If you experience some extreme changes in your vision or hazy vision, it is a good idea to call. We may want to see you in the office earlier than your next scheduled appointment.
